What is Live Help?
Live Help is a cooperative reference service. The participating libraries
are the Public Law Library of King County and the Washington State Law Library.
Who May Use the Live Help Service?
The Public Law Library of King County serves the legal and law related
information needs of the county, including judges, county officials,
members of the bar, and other residents; however, anyone may use this service.
When is Live Help Available?
Live Help is available from the Law Library for
chat Monday to Friday from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. The Washington
State Law Library offers chat services from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
What Types of Questions are Appropriate for Live Help?
Short, factual questions that can be addressed with online resources
are most appropriate for Live Help. An average session lasts 15-20 minutes.
Although we cannot give legal advice, including interpreting legal materials,
we can make suggestions about resources and research tools you can use.

What is the Email Form?
The online form allows users to type in a question on the Library's
web site. Library staff will respond within one business.
Who May Use the Email Form?
The Law Library serves the legal and law related information needs of
King County, including judges, county officials, members of the bar,
and other residents; however, anyone may use this service.
When is the Email Form Available?
Questions may be submitted through the Law Library's website 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. Law Library staff will respond within one business day.
What Types of Questions are Appropriate for the Email Form?
The email form is most appropriate for questions that may require more
time or multiple resources to address. The staff will respond to specific
short answer requests but will not type out statutes, regulations, court
rules, or extended passages from other sources. Although we cannot give legal
advice, including interpreting legal materials, we can make suggestions
about resources and research tools you can use.
