The Library Looks Ahead

On April 8, 2010, the King County Board of Trustees hosted a "visioning" and long-range planning meeting to assist the Board and staff in developing a strategic plan for the future of the King County Law Library. The desired outcome of the session was to engage our stakeholders in a conversation about prioritizing the services that the Law Library should focus upon given finite resources and re-defining what the mission of the Law Library should be.

As a result of this conversation, the most "desired" service identified was collaboration and coordination among all entities so that assistance to self-represented litigants might be packaged and delivered in a one-stop fashion. Recognizing the distinct nature of a law library, there was great desire to capitalize on the location within the courthouse and provide support services to attorneys such as meeting space, computers, and videoconferencing.

The Board of Trustees will use these suggestions to guide our planning process as we develop a strategic plan for the future. We wish to thank everyone who participated in this conversation.

The Facts about Faxing

We have the ability to send and receive faxes for you in both of our branches. The cost is an incredibly reasonable $2.00 per document (up to 20 pages)-that's right, not per page but per document-and the service is available during all hours of operation.

Tech Tip - SupportCalc

We have recently purchased licenses for SupportCalc, the professional child support financial calculation software produced by Legal+Plus. We hope to have a copy available in both of our branches in the near future. For more information about SupportCalc, check out the Legal+Plus web site.
