King County Superior Court Video

We highlighted this video on our blog, but want to mention it again here. Judge Mary Yu and Judge Steven Gonzales explain how to deal with a court case in our county in the video, "Your Day in Court: How to Make Your Voice Heard in King County" (for Pro Se litigants). You should not miss this 20 minute video!

Subscriber Renewal Almost Finished

Just a reminder: if you have not returned your 2009 Subscriber Program renewal materials yet, please make a note to do so. Old 2008 accounts will be closed by February 1, 2009 so you will lose your borrowing privileges if the Law Library hasn’t received your 2009 renewal materials and payment before then. If you have any questions about our Subscriber Program, please contact Rick Stroup at (206) 296-0940.

Tech Tip: PDFs Cheap and Easy

The ability to turn computer files such as memos, spreadsheets or newsletters into .PDF files is handy because the .PDF version is easier to move from one computer to the next. In addition, it protects the integrity of the content and can be opened by anyone you share it with as long as they have .PDF viewing software on their computer. Turning these documents into .PDF files can be expensive if you choose to buy a product like Adobe Acrobat Professional.

Luckily, there are a number of free or low-cost software programs available for download that you can use instead. One such program is CuteWriter from Acro Soft, Inc. As CuteWriter installs, it adds a new printer to your computer. When you want to make an existing document into a .PDF file, you simply choose to print to the CuteWriter printer and it converts the document, saving the new .PDF file to your hard drive.
