Law (July 2005) |
| King County Law Library has an extensive collection of materials discussing construction and building law. The Washington State Bar Association publishes the Construction Law Section Midyear continuing legal education program covering items of current interest. Three popular Washington titles in our collection are Washington Building Contracts and Construction Law by James F. Nagle, Douglas S. Oles, David R. Trachtenberg and Oles Morrison & Rinker; Mechanics’ and Construction Liens in Alaska, Oregon and Washington by Brian A. Blum; and The Construction Lien Practice and Procedure Manual for the State of Washington by Michael F. Keyes. Unfortunately, none of these titles has been updated by the publishers since the mid 1990’s. Several sections of the American Bar Association have published treatises related to construction law. They include Construction Accident Law: A Comprehensive Guide to Legal Liability and Insurance Claims, Construction Damages and Remedies, The Design/Build Deskbook: The Complete Guide to Design/Build Contracting, licensing, Insurance, and Procurement Requirements in the 50 State and Canada, A State-by-State Guide to Construction & Design law: Current Statutes and Practices, and Sweet on Construction Law by Justin Sweet. Two major treatises are Construction Law by Steven G.M. Stein and Forms and Agreements for Architects, Engineers, and Contractors by Albert Dib. Aspen Publishers has many titles in its collection that discuss specific areas of construction law. A few of the titles in our collection are Alternative Clauses to Standard Construction Contracts, Construction Delay Claims, Fifty State Construction Lien and Bond Law, Handling Construction Defect Claims: Western States, and Sweet on Construction Industry Contracts: Major AIA Documents. Stop by the library to look at these and other titles in our construction law collection. Gifts: Nathaniel B. Green Jr. |
