November 2000   - FirstGov

FirstGov states it is the world wide web information portal for the United States Federal Government. This one-stop access to all online U.S. Federal Government resources includes the "Featured Subject" area that highlights timely information.  In addition, federal information links are listed under "U.S. Government" and access to state and local governmental sites is also provided. 

December 2000 -   Find-It! Consumer

This site is a project of the Washington State Library that connects citizens to more than 100,000 links to state and local government consumer publications, Web pages, and agency contacts.  This "one-stop" searching site provides information about consumer protection and safety primarily through state government sites and to some federal and non-profit web sites.  It does not link to commercial sites.

January 2001 - Nolo Press

Although this site is commercial, it provides an abundance of free self-help information.  Features include the  "Law Center" with over 20 legal categories, a legal encyclopedia, a law dictionary, FAQs section, and a lawyer joke emporium.

February 2001 -   Washington State Legislature

This is the home page of the Washington State Legislature. This site contains links to the House and the Senate, bill information, committees, laws, agency rules and more.

April 2001 - Law Library Resource Xchange

LLRX.com is a free Web journal that provides legal professionals with up-to-date information on a wide range of Internet legal research and technology-related issues.

May 2001 - Washington State Bar Association Consumer Information Pamphlets

The Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) has a wide variety of consumer informtion pamphlets on a variety of topics, ranging from Bankruptcy to Wills.

June 2001 -  Jury Duty: An Obligation And An Honor

The Washington State Courts website recently launched this new page to provide helpful information for potential  jurors.

July 2001 - Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) Parcel Locator

The DDES Parcel Located displays information about property in both incorporated and unincorporated King County.  Users can search in several ways, including by parcel number and street address.

August 2001 - King County District Court Small Claims Court Home Page

The Small Claims Court home page at the King County District Court webpage has invaluable information about the small claims court process, including information about appealing judgments. 

September 2001 - Access Washington

Access Washington is the Internet gateway to Washington state government information and services.  Features include links to state agencies, employment listings and public services, such as fire, heath care and recreation. 

October 2001 - Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  In recognition of this,  King County has set up a special page on their website with information about domestic violence. 

November 2001 - Open Records and Opening Meetings Deskbook

The Office of the Attorney General has developed this deskbook that focuses on public records and public meeting issues.

December 2001 - LibrarySmart

The Washington State Library has developed this site to teach information literacy.   Learn how to find out if information is reliable and accurate.  The site includes a wide selection of resources for parents and educators, including information on health care, tax advice and finding quality child care.  The kids page includes links for home help, studying for tests or just having fun!

January 2002 - Small Claims Court Guide

The King County Bar Association has recently updated this guide to how to use the King County Small Claims Courts and how to collect small claims judgments.

February 2002 - King County Frequently Requested Records

This directory assists the public in locating King County records that are retained by the creating agency, or are housed at another repository, and are requested on a frequent basis.

March 2002 - United States Courts - Publications Page 

This is the Publications page for the United States Federal Judiciary web site. It contains a particularly good publication on Bankruptcy.

April 2002 - Federal Trade Commission

Links to the United States government's web site on how to deal with Identity Theft.

May 2002 - The Washington Center for Consumer Law 

A non-profit project of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association dedicated to protecting consumer rights through education and action.

June 2002 -Northwest Justice Project 

The Northwest Justice Project is a clearinghouse of legal self-help materials for non-criminal issues in Washington.  Special features includes materials for non-English speakers and forms that can be filled out electronically.

July 2002 - www.legalwa.org

The Municipal Resources and Service Center (MRSC) has recently launched www.legalwa.org.  It include the full-text of Washington Supreme Court opinions from 1939 to present and Court of Appeals decisions from 1969 to present.  Also available on the site is full-text searching of the Revised Code of Washington and the Washington Administrative Code.

August  2002 -Tenants Union

The Tenants Union is a non-profit, membership-based organization that provides information to Washington State tenants.  Check out their online brochures for answers to many commonly-answered questions.

September  2002 -Department of Financial Institutions

Check out this State of Washington web site to find information about online investing, search securities filings and find a nearby credit union or bank, among other features.

October  2002 -King County Ordinances  

King County ordinances beginning in January 2000 are now available online!  Older ordinances can be copied from our paper collection at the King County Law Library.

December 2002 - Online Domestic Violence Forms

Washington Courts has developed this interactive program to assist victims in filling out the forms needed for a Protection Order.

January 2003 -  King County Hearing Examiner 

Check out this website for rules and decisions from the King County Hearing Examiner's office.  The Hearing Examiner conducts quasi-judicial hearings on land use applications and on appeals of County administrative orders and decisions.

May 2003 - Guide to Sealing/Vacating Felony Convictions

The Northwest Justice Project has recently published this new guide on how to seal/vacate certain felony convictions occurring on or after July 1st, 1984.  The guide includes detailed instructions and forms.

June 2003 - Relicensing Program

The King County District Court is offering a new program to assist people driving with suspended licenses.

August 2003 - www.protectionorder.org

The Protection Order Advocates for King County have established this site to provide information, forms and links for assistance in getting protection orders.

November 2003 - www.legalwa.org

Includes searchable versions of the Revised Code of Washington and the Washington Administrative Code and Supreme Court and Court of Appeals cases back to 1939.

January 2004 - www.unemploymentlawproject.org

The Unemployment Law Project provides free representation at Administrative Hearings to people whose right to receive unemployment benefits has been challenged.

February 2004 - www.atjtechbillofrights.org

The Access to Justice - Technology Bill of Rights website was developed to help "create a body of enforceable fundamental principles to ensure that current and future technology both increases opportunities and eliminates barriers to access to and effective utilization of the justice system, thereby improving the quality of justice for all persons in Washington State."

March 2004 - www.ca9.uscourts.gov

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals website offers many features for attorneys and pro se litigants such as audio recordings of oral arguments and information on writing a pro se brief.

May 2004 - www.womenslaw.org

The Women's Law Initiative provides state-to-state legal information and resources for domestic violence.

June 2004 - www.rcfp.org

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press tracks First Amendment issues from a reporters perspective and also several useful resources, such as a 50-state comparison of the legality of tape recording conversations.

August 2004 - www.washingtonlawhelp.org

Washington Law Help contains information to help "low-income people find solutions to civil legal problems." The website includes content from a number of different organizations, including forms and instructions formally hosted by the Northwest Justice Project.

September 2004 - www.regulations.gov

Visit this website to comment online on federal regulations that are published in the Federal Register.

November 2004 - access.wa.gov

Visit this newly redesigned website to find links to Washington State departments and agencies.

March 2005 - Advance Directives by State

The Wall Street Journal has compiled a list of links to information about advance directives from all 50 states.

September 2005 - www.lawforwa.org

The Council on Public Legal Education, administered by the Washington State Bar Association, has launched this new website dedicated to providing free public access to law and legal infomraiton for Washington.

December 2005 - www.sgc.wa.gov

The 2005 Adult Sentencing Guidelines Manual is now available on the Sentencing Guidelines Commission website.

March 2006 - Podcats from Nolo.com

Check out "Nolo Presents the Law in Plain English," Nolo's new podcast series. Recent podcasts include "Whose Afraid of Contracts?" and "Songwriters and the Law".

May 2006 - Online court records from Seattle Municipal Court

Search for Seattle Municipal Court records online by attorney name, case or citation number, defendant name, hearing date, police officer number and vehicle plate number.

July 2006 - Child Support Calculator

"The Division of Child Support (DCS) of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) created the Washington State Child Support Schedule Calculator. The calculator will help you create a set of Washington State Child Support Schedule Worksheets."

September 2006 - Election Information about Judges

The King County Bar Association and a number of other organizations have created votingforjudges.org. This website provides neutral information about judges who are running for election, including "judicial candidates' biographies, bar and civic organizations' ratings, newspaper and organizational endorsements, links to major newspaper stories about the races, Public Disclosure Commission contribution records for each campaign, and links to the judicial candidates' own campaign websites."

November 2006 - Electronic Court Records

The King County Superior Court now offers fee-based access to the full-text of selected criminal, civil, and probate cases filed after November 1, 2004.

December 2006 - Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Standards of Review

The Standards of Review Outline for the Ninth Circuit has been recently updated in 2006.

September 2007 - Restoration of Gun Rights

The Spokane Superior Court has instructions and forms for restoration of gun rights.

April 2008 - WA Pattern Jury Instructions

Civil and criminal pattern jury instructions are now available online for free!
