Borrowing Materials

All people shall have free use of the Public Law Library collection, though, borrowing privileges are limited to our subscribers. Annual subscriptions are available to those residents and business entities, within King County, who agree to be bound by the Public Law Library rules and conditions and who qualify for one of the subscription categories.

Subscription Categories

Attorney Subscriber - Any practitioner, law firm, legal partnership or corporate legal department which has an office in King County. There is a non-refundable annual fee of $65.00 for each King County attorney employee of the business.

Government Subscriber - Any employee of a city, county, state or federal government office located in King County, or a judge of a court located in King County may borrow materials for business purposes. Government subscribers are not required to pay an annual subscription fee.

Resident Subscriber - There are three options for subscribing by this category:
A. A business or organization with an office in King County. There is a non-refundable annual subscription fee of $65.00 for each King County professional employee of the business or organization.
B. An individual resident of King County, who is not an attorney, and pays a non-refundable annual subscription of $65.00.
C. An individual resident of King County, who is not an attorney, and pays a non-refundable limited term (120 days) subscription fee of $25.00. This subscription will terminate at the end of the 120 day period unless the subscription is extended by the payment of a non-refundable fee of $40.00 to extend the subscription to the end of the subscription year.

Exempt Organizations - Exempt organizations must contact the Public Law Library regarding qualifications for this category.

Rules

All subscribers agree to be bound by the rules of the Public Law Library of King County. Any subscriber who flagrantly or persistently violates the Public Law Library rules will have their subscription privileges suspended or terminated by the Public Law Library Board of Trustees. A copy of the rules are available from the Public Law Library of King County.
